Probably should have led off my blog journey with a post about me but really felt compelled to share my thoughts right off the bat. So here is a brief history of me! I was born in Lynchburg, Virginia in 1986. My father was attending Liberty and I was born in his senior year. We didn’t stay in Virginia too long and moved to Wisconsin for a year. After that we moved to Canonsburg, Pennsylvania where my brother and sister were born. I couldn’t have been older than 3 or 4 but that’s where I have my earliest memory. Two memories stand out from that time. The first is riding in the back of our station wagon with Miss Ida and vomiting all over the backseat. That was the last time remember riding in the backseat because I always got carsick. The second memory is when we were packing up the U-Haul to move to New Paris in PA. I remember the rocking horse we had. It was the kind that had springs attached to the base. I don’t remember riding it, just looking at it. From there I remember my father backing the aforementioned U-Haul into our new porch and breaking down the gutters. Shortly after that my youngest sister was born and our family was complete. I had a fun growing up. I had a close friend group and played all the sports. Baseball was my favorite. Like most young boys, I knew I was going to pitch for the Yankees one day! I was in Boy Scouts and to this day I really enjoy the outdoors and going camping with my girls. I was a drummer in our marching band and have many memories from that time! What happened on the band bus will always stay on the band bus! In tenth grade I did a year abroad in Hungary. I think was the first time I really just jumped into something. In little old New Paris, Pennsylvania, with all of 300 people, one of my neighbors was going to Argentina for a year. I thought to myself that sounds like a lot of fun so I looked into it. I found a company that sends students all over the world and saw which countries I was eligible to go to since I was only 15. My options were Russia, Hungary, Ukraine, and another Balkan country. After a brief discussion with my family we set on Hungary. This was before google and all the wonders of the internet so I went to my library to look up what I could about Hungary. From everything I found, I thought they still spoke Russian. It’s crazy to think about it but history is much closer than we think. Up until 1989, the Soviet Union did have a hold on much of Eastern Europe. This was a very formative time in my life so I will be devoting a whole post on my year overseas. I will leave this for now. Thank you for reading and please comment and share and stay posted!! Jó éjszakát!
